We were so excited to discover this little gem hidden in a darling neighborhood in Arlington! It did not disappoint one bit. It was a lovely Monday morning, and since my girls are up at the ungodly hour of 5:30am, we headed out right after breakfast. Gracie saw this train play area from her window as we pulled into the parking lot, and started squealing with delight. I knew we had picked the right place to explore!
As soon as we walked in to the play area, Gracie headed straight for the ropes. I had never seen her climb up anything as fast as she did these ropes! She jumped right on and navigated her way to the top of the rock structure in a jiffy, and seemed quite pleased with herself. Of course, once atop the rocks, she needed her mama to help her down. I was grateful to feel a bit useful. 😉
Best part of the morning? We got to spend a few minutes with our favorite person – Aaron! He stayed back that morning for a few just to play with his girls, and I couldn’t have been happier. Both Audrey and Gracie adore him! He is the fun daddy and Gracie will pointedly remind me that I needed to stay home with Audrey and that she will be going out to {insert fun adventure} with her Daddy. When I ask her if she wants to go with me, she gently touches my chin with her toddler hands and says, “You’ll be fine, Mommy. We will come right back to you after we are done playing, okay?” Hahah. Yep. I am not the fun parent.
Audrey loves being outdoors as well, and just like Gracie, she also likes talking to the trees and the breeze.
That smile on Aaron’s face is enough to tell you that this is his happy place – outdoors in nature with his girls, me included 🙂
Bluemont Park is beautiful. Shaded by these lovely trees, scattered benches, picnic tables, play structures for all ages, and a creek nearby – the perfect place to let your children safely play and explore. As the day went on, it also seemed a popular playgroup place
It was great to have Aaron around to help with Audrey when she got fussy, so I could keep an eye on Gracie as she dug in the dirt for a solid five minutes 🙂
I love that Bluemont Park caters to kids of all ages and has provided such a wonderful place for people to gather! I am not paid to say nice things about this place – I just really enjoyed our time there. In fact, when we arrived, there was a group of mommies with their babies in strollers, all working out, and then jogging along the track that is also shared with bikes and runners. The path is also kid-friendly, so children can bring their bikes and scooters and ride around in the shade of these gorgeous trees!
Gracie’s favorite part was the sand pit. We didn’t know they had one or we would have brought her toys. One of the kids there gave her the shovel in this picture, and she loved it. But then, when another little girl took it to play with it, Gracie got super mad and kicked sand at her. A first for her and I was shocked that she would do that. She has never done that before. Then I realized that it was past her lunch time and she must have been hungry, and tired. She was embarrassed that both Aaron and I reprimanded her in front of the other kids, and she started to cry. I left her sitting on the wall until she calmed down, then I called her over and asked her if she would apologize to the little girl. She did and all was good. For a while.
Until we told her we had to leave and the full on meltdown happened. Oh well, at least we know she really liked this park 😀 We will definitely come here again!
