Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread

July 12, 2013

We have family visiting this week, and I was racking my brain to find something I could make for breakfast that would be quick and easy.  Last week, I made Strawberry Shortcake Donut Muffins that turned out great, and I had some leftover cinnamon sugar that I stored in a Ziploc bag. I had a few Rhodes frozen rolls left over as well. Put them together and—voila! Frozen rolls, butter, cinnamon sugar. How easy can it get?

To prep the rolls for baking, I used the same process as the Cheesy Garlic Pull-Apart Bread, and substituted the herbs with cinnamon sugar instead. When it says to add grated cheese, I liberally sprinkled on some more cinnamon sugar, stuck it in the oven and let it do its thing for about 20 minutes.

I think my family ate only two pieces when I pulled the bread in front of me and inhaled the rest of it before they could say Skippety Bippety Boo.  You might want to double this recipe and make two portions. One for you and one for your guests.  This will save you some embarrassment 🙂

Ingredients

  • 16 frozen white dinner rolls (Rhodes brand) (I only did 8 rolls and cut them in half. 16 would have been too many for just two of us.)
  • ½ C butter, melted (adjust this according to how many rolls you use. I forgot to the first time and had some very buttery rolls. I did not hear one complaint, though).
  • 1 C cinnamon sugar, divided
Method
  1. Remove frozen rolls from freezer and loosely wrap them in plastic wrap and allow to sit at room temperature for 45 minutes.
  2. Cut rolls in half with a clean pair of scissors and place in a bowl.
  3. Combine melted butter and 1/2 the cinnamon sugar together.
  4. Pour over dough and gently mix.
  5. You want each piece of dough to be coated.
  6. Line the bottom of a 9 inch springform pan with the piece of dough. (I used a smaller springform pan)
  7. Cover bottom of pan with foil to prevent butter from leaking out.
  8. Allow to rise in a warm place for 1½ – 2½ hours. (I stuck it in the oven, unheated. It is hot and humid in these parts right now that the rolls did a good job on their own with no electric assistance. I also did this the night before so I could just turn on the oven in the morning and they would be done.)
  9. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until center is completely done.
  10. Right when you take it out of the oven, brush some more butter on the top and of course, sprinkle the rest of the sugar.
