Easter Sunday

April 1, 2013
“Easter time is indeed a forceful reminder that the human spirit cannot be confined. It does not deny the reality of death, but it offers us an assurance that God has preserved life beyond the grave.”
~ Franklin D Richards

Although Easter Sunday was a bit hectic and we ended up having to go to two different buildings to make it to Sacrament meeting, it was still a special time for us. I have a testimony that God preserved life beyond the grave by sending His Only Begotten, perfect Son, to give His life for us, and rise again on the third day, as only the Son of God could do. I know that this selfless act – the Atonement – allows me to return to Him someday. I know that Jesus Christ came to this earth to show us how to love one another and to serve each other, and be kind to one another. In this manner, we are to become more like Him. I am grateful for the gospel that helps me always remember Him and keep His commandments which He has given me. I am grateful for the Spirit that testifies of Him and comforts me and brings all things to my remembrance.

I know I do not fully comprehend the ultimate sacrifice that Christ made for me, but I am grateful for that act of selfless love that teaches me how to be more like Him everyday, a little by little, line upon line.

To understand the meaning of death, we must appreciate the purpose of life. The dim light of belief must yield to the noonday sun of revelation, by which we know that we lived before our birth into mortality. In our premortal state, we were doubtless among the sons and daughters of God who shouted for joy because of the opportunity to come to this challenging yet necessary mortal existence. 5 We knew that our purpose was to gain a physical body, to overcome trials, and to prove that we would keep the commandments of God. Our Father knew that because of the nature of mortality, we would be tempted, would sin, and would fall short. So that we might have every chance of success, He provided a Savior, who would suffer and die for us. Not only would He atone for our sins, but as a part of that Atonement, He would also overcome the physical death to which we would be subject because of the Fall of Adam.

~ Thomas S Monson

I know that Christ suffered for me on the cross, that He died, and on the third day, rose again and broke the bands of death. I know that He lives and that He loves me. I see His hand in my life and His guidance in all that I do. I am blessed to learn His teachings and strive to be a worthy follower of Christ. In my imperfect world, He is there to lead me to perfection.

I hope you all feel His love and have a wonderful Easter Sunday!
