Our First Nativity

December 17, 2020

This is the first year in our entire marriage that we own a nativity. I grew up with one all my life as a kid in India, and it was an important part of Christmas for me. When I moved here, I stopped doing it for some reason, and when I got married, Aaron came with very few traditions and I just never remembered in time to get one. This year, however, I bought this set in October. Yep. Getting ahead of the game.

I love this physical reminder of the reason for the season! Surprisingly, and I hope I don’t jinx myself, my children have not touched it (too much). So it has managed to stay intact! It is a cute little set of resin figurines and I love their expressions.

Maybe this could be a new Taylor Family Tradition – collect Nativity sets from around the world. Add one each year? I am not sure if my minimalist tendencies will accept this idea yet, but for now, we love looking at this set and talking about it with our kids, and it helps them remember that the most important part of Christmas is Christ.
